I would like to present myself – my name is Maali Alawadi and I have over 15 years of professional experience in such areas as business management, business analyst behavior, and information technology. As a senior system administrator at The National Library in Jordan, I was able to sharpen my skills in facilitating decisions from data, providing technical assistance, and coaching junior employees. Similarly, as a system analyst at MOHAMMAD BIN SAAD AL-TAMIMI in Riyadh, I was close to clients, coordinating between computer systems, and consulting closely with top-tier management to make sure the system was efficient and effective. Furthermore, my previous experience as a programmer at The National Library of Jordan allowed me to develop functional skills and assist in developing and transforming the system or user.

Maali Alawadi: Absolutely, my clients benefit immensely when it comes to challenges due to the general out-of-the-box attitude. I offer a new perspective through using my broad experience in information technology, and business analysis. I push my clients to consider beyond the box while coming up with answers to their problems.

I push my clients to think outside of their comfort zones and explore different routes to success during our career coaching sessions. I support them in using their imaginations and creativity while they are updating their resumes, making improvements to their LinkedIn accounts, or looking into new employment options.

MARLEQ: Where does your degree in psychological counseling play a major role in helping your clients struggling with the complexities of the job market?

Maali Alawadi: My degree in psychological counseling plays a crucial role in helping my clients navigate the complexities of the job market.

First and foremost, my training in psychological counseling equips me with a deep understanding of human behavior, motivation, and emotions. This allows me to empathize with my clients and provide them with the emotional support they need during their career transition journey. I create a safe and supportive space where they can express their concerns, fears, and aspirations without judgment.

MARLEQ: How can you help a job seeker leverage IT or AI to land and retain a job? 

Maali Alawadi: 

  • Resume optimization: help job seekers optimize their resumes using ATS optimization strategies. This entails incorporating relevant keywords and formatting the resume to ensure the HR software, frequently employed by most employers to screen resumes quickly, did not discard the resume. 
  • LinkedIn profile enhancement: I would help job seekers improve their LinkedIn profiles through keyword optimization and emphasizing relevant talents and experiences they have while also increasing their exposure to potential employers and learning more about the market. Also, instruct them on maintaining contact through networking.
  • Job search Automation: Subject the job seekers to job search technology and platforms designed to match job seekers’ skills and talents with appropriate jobs. Additionally, I would encourage them to utilize job alerts and other automated processes to simplify and improve their job hunt. 
  • Skills acquisition: introduced to the most requested available IT and emerging technologies that have gained relevance with their field or position to get the most out of which online course or training program to use or certification to get. Instruct further on constant learning and keeping up with market patterns 
  • Interview preparation: how to effectively manage interviews that may include either technical assessments or AI-related questions. Examining applicants’ technical capacities and understanding to discover their lack while offering potential answers. Conduct a mock interview to rate them.

Maali Alawadi: Job seekers at various stages of their careers, including recent graduates, mid-career professionals, and individuals looking to make a career transition.

Professionals seeking to enhance their skills, advance in their current roles, or explore new career opportunities within their industry or a different sector.

Individuals facing challenges such as unemployment, career stagnation, or job dissatisfaction, who are seeking guidance and support to overcome obstacles and achieve their career goals.

Employers or organizations looking to support their employees' professional development, improve retention rates, and enhance workforce productivity through coaching and training programs.

Overall, my target audience comprises individuals who are motivated to invest in their personal and professional growth, and who are open to guidance, support, and collaboration in achieving their career aspirations.

MARLEQ: With your experience as a team leader, what will you tell entry-level professionals to look out for in the workplace? 

Maali Alawadi: For an entry-level professional, it is critical to demonstrate attentiveness and assertiveness while navigating the workplace. Specifically, the following aspects should be prioritized: 

  • Notice the Company Culture: Take note of the organization’s culture and values to determine how your beliefs and work style align with the company’s culture. 
  • Identify Areas for Growth: Look for opportunities to learn new things, develop your skills, and improve your skills by enrolling in training programs, finding a mentor, or taking on more challenging tasks. 
  • Prioritize Work-Life Balance: Make sure you have time for work and a personal life because burning out in the first few years of your career will do more harm than good.   
  • Communication and Collaboration: Workplace success is impossible without excellent communication and collaboration skills, so develop strong communication and collaboration skills to easily establish relationships and work efficiently in a teamwork environment.
  • Be open to feedback and recognition: Accept constructive feedback from bosses and team members. Make sure to provide positive feedback to co-workers and recognize your achievements more often.

Maali Alawadi: If given the opportunity to develop a workplace policy, I would focus on promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the organization. This policy would encompass several key components:

  • Diversity Recruitment and Hiring: Implement strategies to attract and retain a diverse workforce, including outreach efforts to underrepresented groups and unconscious bias training for hiring managers.
  • Anti-Discrimination and Harassment Policies: Establish clear guidelines and procedures for addressing instances of discrimination, harassment, or bias in the workplace, with zero tolerance for such behaviors.
  • Ongoing Training and Education: Provide regular training and educational opportunities for employees and leaders on topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, to foster awareness, understanding, and allyship across the organization.

Maali Alawadi: My ability to adapt and thrive in various professional environments equips me with strong problem-solving skills. I can help clients navigate complex challenges, overcome obstacles, and develop effective strategies for achieving their goals.

MARLEQ: How do you encourage professionals to establish a work-life balance/integration? 

Maali Alawadi: By Prioritizing Self-Care, encouraging professionals to prioritize self-care activities such as exercise, meditation, hobbies, and spending time with loved ones to recharge and rejuvenate outside of work.

Helping professionals set clear boundaries between work and personal life by establishing designated work hours, avoiding work-related activities during off-hours, and unplugging from digital devices when not at work.

Teaching effective time management techniques such as prioritizing tasks, setting realistic goals, and delegating responsibilities to maximize productivity and minimize stress.

Maali Alawadi: Relaxation is essential for maintaining balance and well-being. Personally, I enjoy unwinding by:

Engaging in outdoor activities such as hiking, jogging, or spending time in nature.
