Forward is the only way in your career journey: Focus on your strengths, and explore new opportunities with confidence and determination!

MARLEQ: It's great to have you join our Global team. Let's meet you. How would you present yourself?

Georgia Tziveni: I would present myself as a seeker, someone who craves to learn, try new things, evolve, and hopefully take others on this journey or assist them with their own.

MARLEQ: Why did you choose HR as a career?

Georgia Tziveni: I’ve always wanted a people-centric role—one where I could make a real impact by helping others as part of my profession. HR serves as the bridge between the company and its employees, striving to maintain balance, drive results aligned with business goals, ensure compliance, and foster a healthy, inclusive, and engaging work environment—no pressure, right? This is also the reason why many HR professionals experience burnout, especially when their organization fails to support them or only turns to HR when problems arise.

MARLEQ: What attracted you to Career Counseling?

Georgia Tziveni: My journey into Career Counseling is deeply rooted in my personal experiences as both a student and an employee seeking meaning in my work. During high school, I felt pressure from my environment to make “practical choices” about my future profession. Later, as a young professional navigating the financial crisis in Greece, I was grateful for having a stable job. However, this wasn’t enough, I needed some purpose and inner motivation that were missing. When I was introduced to Career Counseling, I decided that it is something that I have to study and practise, hoping that I can help others facing the same struggles as me.

MARLEQ: How does your experience in HR benefit your clients?

Georgia Tziveni: With experience as both an HR Generalist and a freelance Recruiter across various industries, I have managed end-to-end recruitment for diverse roles. I’ve screened thousands of CVs, interviewed candidates worldwide, created interview templates, conducted structured interviews, and endorsed top talent. My HR experience allows me to provide valuable insights to my clients and program beneficiaries—helping them navigate the job market, increase their visibility to employers, and ultimately land a role that aligns with their goals and values.

MARLEQ: If you have an opportunity to create an HR policy, what will it be?

Georgia Tziveni: Anything related to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) is very close to my heart, despite the current trend that seems to undermine such initiatives.

MARLEQ: Tell us more about your coaching offerings. How do you help your clients thrive?

Georgia Tziveni: At MARLEQ, I offer career coaching services tailored to help professionals advance in their careers. This includes CV and cover letter writing and editing, LinkedIn profile optimization, interview preparation, and career SWOT analysis. As a Career Counselor, I primarily support individuals in shaping their career paths. I help them identify their interests, skills, and values, craft compelling CVs and portfolios, and develop personalized job search action plans to navigate the job market with confidence.

MARLEQ: Who's your target audience and what added values do you bring to them?

Georgia Tziveni: At MARLEQ, I support mostly entry-level and mid-level professionals in finding roles that truly align with their skills, interests, and values. Through a personalized, structured approach, I help them navigate their job search with clarity and confidence—overcoming limiting beliefs, redefining their narrative, and achieving their career goals.

MARLEQ: What do you think about the increasing role of technology in the employment sector?

Georgia Tziveni: Applicant Tracking and HR Systems have revolutionized HR processes, enhancing transparency, accuracy, and efficiency across operations—from payroll to recruitment. As HR professionals, it’s our responsibility to leverage these tools in a way that benefits everyone: the company, employees, and candidates alike. The same applies to AI—it’s a powerful tool that we have to use in an ethical and responsible way.

MARLEQ: As a recruiter, what will you say are the three most common mistakes job applicants make and how can they be corrected?

Georgia Tziveni:

1. The "Spray and Pray" Approach:

Many job seekers send out mass applications without a clear strategy, often without even reading the job descriptions, hoping something will stick. Instead, job seekers should focus on quality over quantity—applying to roles that align with their skills, interests, and career goals. Targeted, well-crafted applications stand a much better chance of success.

2. Neglecting LinkedIn Optimization:

A LinkedIn profile that is outdated or inconsistent with a candidate’s CV can hurt their credibility. To improve searchability and attract more job or collaboration opportunities, job seekers should ensure their LinkedIn profile is up-to-date, aligned with their CV, and rich with relevant keywords.

3. Using a One-Size-Fits-All CV:

Many applicants send the same generic CV for different roles across various industries, failing to tailor it to specific job requirements. A customized CV that highlights relevant skills, achievements, and keywords for each role significantly increases the chances of getting noticed by recruiters.

MARLEQ: Tell us your favorite quote, music, or book. How do you unwind after a long day or week?

Georgia Tziveni: Lately, I’ve been living by two quotes: "It isn’t over until it’s over" and "Forward is the only way." Both serve as powerful reminders, especially when navigating change and pushing forward despite not yet seeing concrete results. In a world filled with constant noise, it’s essential to be intentional about unwinding. For me, that means staying active and spending time in nature whenever possible—preferably with my phone in airplane mode.
